New Asphalt Paving

APC Ltd. specializes in providing asphalt paving that lasts. Assisting with new asphalt projects of almost any size, we have direct experience with projects varying from retail development to private home development.

We understand that construction projects have important timelines, and our crew is ready to make sure that the new asphalt portion of your project is handled with great detail in a timely fashion.

Subgrade Prep

One of the most important factors in every pavement design is the strength of the subgrade. The subgrade material should meet all applicable requirements for moisture content, density and smoothness. Test rolling, compaction and accurate preparation of the finished subgrade is essential. Any weak areas should be dug out, repaired and retested. The subgrade must provide a firm foundation before the asphalt paving commences.

Graded Aggregate Base

Before the asphalt layer is placed on the graded aggregate base (GAB), often referred to as “crush and run”, that material should meet all the requirements for moisture content, compaction and smoothness. If the condition of the base material is stable and dry, and does not deflect and indent significantly under the wheels of a loaded tandem axle dump truck, placement of the new asphalt mix may start. If the condition of the GAB is not satisfactory the base course should be reworked or stabilized to the proper condition for overlay.

Mix Placement

The purpose of the asphalt paver and rollers are to place the hot-mix asphalt to the desired width and thickness and to produce a satisfactory mat texture.

Repairs

Asphalt Repair by patching is an effective maintenance process when an asphalt surface has not been properly maintained and water infiltration has begun to undermine the sub grade material. All pavements will require patching at one time or another. If holes or cracks do not occur from natural causes, man-made service cuts and trenches will eventually produce them.

Effective Repair by patching requires skill and close attention to detail. Prompt repair of small breaks will help minimize expenditures because once an area is broken and water enters the subgrade, a large failure will result.

After removing the surface asphalt and graded aggregate base, our professional crew will apply a tack coat to the vertical sides, backfill the hole with graded aggregate base, then carefully spread and compact the mix. The patched surface will be perfectly flush with the top layer of the existing asphalt.

Benefits:

  • Appearance
  • Improves functionality
  • Repairs damaged asphalt
  • Fixes depressions and drainage issues
  • Prevents larger failures
Overlay

Asphalt resurfacing/overlaying is a very cost effective way of repairing and improving the appearance of existing asphalt, if the sub grade material is still intact. An overlay of asphalt makes your pavement look brand new and is much less costly than a complete removal and replacement. Thicker overlays also add structural support to your existing pavement.

First, the entire surface will be sprayed with a tack coat. Asphalt is then trucked on site and into a paving machine for spreading. Once in place, the new mat of Asphalt will be rolled for compaction.

Benefits:

  • Improves functionality
  • Repairs damaged asphalt
  • Fixes depressions and drainage issues
  • New look
Seal Coating

Seal Coating is a key element of pavement maintenance because it slows pavement deterioration and protects your pavement. When seal coating, we use SEALER exclusively to help extend the life of the pavement. For maximum protection, Seal Coating needs to be applied on a regular basis, approximately every 2 to 3 years.

Benefits:

  • Outstanding toughness and durability
  • Flexibility at all temperatures
  • Fast drying to rich, black color
  • Excellent resistance to fuel, oil and chemicals
  • Fills minor voids and provides uniform texture
  • Stops pavement degradation
  • Preserves asphalt oils in the pavement
  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Highly cost effective
Line Stripping

Line Striping is the final touch on a freshly paved or seal coated parking lot. Since Line Striping is the most noticeable part of the parking lot, the job must be executed with careful attention to detail, using D.O.T. approved paint that is high fluorescent. Whether you have a parking lot with 2000 spaces or a parking space with one no parking decal, rely on the quality Line Striping service from the professionals at APC Ltd.

Benefits:

  • Improved Property Image
  • Safety
  • Maximum Space Utilization of Lot
  • Traffic Flow
  • ADA Compliance
